Chocolates boxes to love....

Two of my favorite things are beautiful graphics and aged cardboard. Here are some pics of my very small chocolate box collection. I find them irresistible for two reasons, the beautiful graphics and craftsmanship, and the vintage aged cardboard they're made of. This Pangburn's box is a great example...look at the beautiful font in gold used on this box above, along with the satin chocolate brown ribbon...
open it up and the inside is just as beautiful with heavy gold foil embossed paper! This particular box even has several of the individual little candy wrappers inside..I was thrilled!
The back side (above) is almost as beautiful as the front...
The two boxes above are so gorgeous in person, the huge one on the right was found at Easter on the coast, and the other was purchased on ETSY...
Below you see my little box collection, I do hope to grow it soon!

Do you dream of vintage?

I do quite frequently....I'm strolling the aisles of some little antique store and come upon the nicest things...like the huge hunk of thread above. It amazes me that something so very old is totally unused, but I love it!
The old buckle above with stones missing, so lovely in it's shabby state...and the stones that are there just sparkle like crazy. The softest pink jewelry box with crushed velvet lining in the best shape for something so old....
The cutest little dolls...look at the fluffy angel wings, and her dress is amazing...the other little doll is a Nancy Ann and she has the funniest expression on her face.
A gorgeous roll of wallpaper with roses and lilacs, what could be better than that? A huge spool of nubby binding in the  perfect shade of tan, the coffee stained color I love. A gorgeous old crocheted pincushion in the prettiest pastel colors.
And a fabric covered vanity box with the prettiest roses, oh yes I've been very lucky with some great finds lately....
How about you?
How about this cigar box, that for some inexplicable reason, says Dolls on the front of it? At first I thought someone added this word later, but no, it's original to the box and it was filled with lace.
Very pretty shoe bag with clear pockets so you can see what you've stashed inside. Gorgeous chintz fabric in a purple color......
I'm taking the day off from thrifting (at least that's the plan, we'll see if I can do it!)
Hope you all have a great Tuesday my friends......

Vintage quilt thrift find!!!!!

I haven't bought a quilt in quite some time, just not something I've actively looked for....
I was in St. Vinnie's the other day and saw this one, it's twin size and sooooooo soft!
One of the flower petals has the fabric missing (I didn't even notice this when I bought it) and there's a small rip on one end of the quilt. Otherwise I was quite taken with the beautiful patterns of the fabric...so it now lives on my dd's bed for the summer...she seems to love it.
Who wouldn't?
Oh, and the price was right at $35.

Is there such a thing as too much lace?

I went thrifting yesterday and went to a store that I normally don't have much luck at for finding anything good.......so I went back to their sewing section and saw bolts and bolts of different laces and trims.....after putting my eyes back in my head I checked the price......49 cents for each bolt!
So I grabbed this one....
and this one.....
the lace above was  just washed (I wash everything!)...
look at the red and green trim! Won't that be cool for Christmas crafts?

The picture below is of some more finds, old pipe stem cleaners, a little bird, and a very cute "Sorry" game from 1932.
I couldn't pass up this adorable music book...
or the book and huge clock below.
Gotta run because, believe it or not, I didn't buy all the lace there was at that shop and am gonna run back and hope the rest of it is still there!
Have a great weekend, and Happy Mother's Day!!!!!

I'm trying really hard.....

To heed this sweet little motto's message because we have rain again and are supposed to have it all week long!!!!!!!!
Just a couple of days ago these are photos I took in our front and back yards...pretty blooms and gorgeous blue skies....ahh, short sleeve weather for sure.

I know those skies will come back, I just hope it's very, very soon...ya know?
On the plus side it's great thrifting weather, and great crafting weather too so that's just what I'm gonna do...how about you?
