Good Monday morning.....

I do hope you all had a lovely weekend! Our Spring break is officially over...:(, and although we didn't do anything special, I do wish it would last another week! My dd and I had some outings together to the thrift (and she was lucky enough to have 3 cooking classes!). There's an ulterior motive there that I'm sure you can figure out on your own...:).
On one outing we found this awesome, very rustic toolbox on wheels. It's 31" long and 8" deep, so quite large.

It's hard to say what I love most about it. The wood was very rustic and primitive so I gave it a coat of cream paint.....

I added a vintage decal right above the latch....

I covered the top in one of my favorite vintage roses and lilacs wallpaper......

I love how each latch is different (hmmm, on these close-ups you can see what a sloppy painter I am!)

I love the fact that someone took an old suitcase handle and put it on this tool chest!

But probably my favorite thing about it is that it's on four wheels, what is it about wheels that really make you take notice?

I was also able to find some awesome, very vintage trims at an indoor garage sale...

And these folks had to come home with me too....!
This will be a busy week making some items for my Etsy shop which is re-stocked to the gills with new stuff, come on over and take a peek!

What I'm obsessing about today........

vintage embroidery....more specifically....french knots! Aren't these stunning? I about died....

this piece is a very large square tablecloth in great condition with these gorgeous latticework baskets on each of the four corners....loving this!

Saw this sweetie for 1.99 at St. Vinnies....it's a cute little runner....had a couple of stains on it that I just rubbed with a fresh lemon...voila, stains gone!

more pretty french knots with a combination of crochet edging....so pretty!

hmmm, wonder if I could do this kind of work? I haven't embroidered anything since I was a teen.

Do you embroider? I must give this a try again!!
I'm linking up here today!

Making your studio work for you, not against you.....

This is something I haven't seen in way too long, the top of my workspace in my studio. There has been a major remodel going on in here and today I'm only showing one side of my space...the rest is still a work in progress. I originally had doors underneath this counter but every time I opened them I would have to move something else out of the way....annoying. I bought this Simply Shabby Chic balloon shade at Value Village for 6.99. I had to totally deconstruct it because it was a ballon shade with all kinds of little rings and the worst were the little plastic beads lining the bottom. It also had a plain white liner so I got out my seam ripper and ripped away. I didn't want the brightness of it so I turned it around so that you see the "wrong" side of the fabric. It's so much easier now just to pull the curtain aside to get what I want.

The area under the right side is where I keep all my listed Etsy items, it makes it so much easier to know that they're all in there so nothing gets lost (yes, I have actually panicked when someone has purchased something and I can't find it...!) Not anymore....:).

Hello sweet black countertop, I've missed you so!

This is the busiest part of my room, the paper cutting area...wish I had a dollar for every paper cut I've made on this cutter.....

Glitter land...........

Some old booklets that make me happy, they'll be moving soon so I can more easily get at my supplies that will be stashed in those sweet little jewelry boxes that I bought for just that purpose.....

I even put some daphne in that sweet cup that Melanie just gave me so that my whole studio will smell sweet.....I've got to finish up a big order now that I have a space to work on, then I'll finish tidying up the rest of the space and post more pictures of the finished studio.
Thanks for looking!

I had all but given up!!!!!!!!!!!

of ever finding this trim again....I bought it a frightfully long time ago and stuffed it away...well, it was really being used in the vintage suitcase below to prop up my dolls, along with a lot of other crochet lace and some fabric that I thought I had run out of......

so during my massive studio overhaul (yes, believe it or not it's still going on) I had to move the suitcase and I grabbed it the wrong way (thankfully!) which forced the contents to drop down further into the bag and, voila!!!, lost trim and fabric. Now I'm not sure what made me think that I would remember that I had stashed it in there, but there you have it, a sad and scary glimpse into my disheveled mind.....

you don't know how very badly I wish that this will be a lesson to remember (a place for everything and everything in it's place), but I know myself too well to hope that this will never happen again.
Nope, I know it will......

my poor dolls have no idea what happened to their home....

clearly I need to find them a better one!
oh, and happy st. patrick's day!!!!

When two crazy best friends get together.....

So I've just had a whirlwind of a week so far...on Monday morning I drove up to Portland to see my best friend. We've been saving up our stashes for each other for almost a year now, unable to make it work to get together. It finally happened. I arrived at her house Monday morn and she had a "pile" of goodness for me...these aren't even all the pictures of everything....she has a new name now.
I'm gonna start calling her the "Vintage Whisperer" because this girl can find THE most awesome things out there. Check out this carry case above, it has an old pennant of my dh's alma mater so she bought it for me. Cool huh?

How about this awesome barrel that someone covered in the most luscious wallpaper?
but wait, there's more!

old drawers from a steamer trunk....there are few things I love more in this world because they are always covered with the most amazing old paper. Think what you can store in these!

gorgeous old paper, right? These make me giddy..:)

and how did she know I needed a new trash can for my studio? (it's that "vintage whisperer" thing again)

more vintage ribbon spools....

gorgeous and soft old ticking....

now this set of old wallpaper drawers I found at Monticello (because we just weren't feeling the thrifting vibe that morning)

beautiful old crochet lace from some old pillowcases (this was found at Monticello as well)

we stopped in at the Salvation Army and I found this pitcher for $1, can't even describe to you how much I love it.....

a present indeed, that's what my best friend is! Then, on the spur of the moment she decided to drive back home with me and stay over until Tuesday! Yep, we had us some fun and now she's back to work, but I just have to say what a fabulous time I had Mel!!!! Let's do it again soon....?
