New goods and busy times

Well, another busy weekend has ended! We've hauled out all of our Halloween decor from the storage unit....time to get to work!
We always wait until the day of Halloween to decorate the outside of our house so it will be a surprise, and we have some new surprises in store this year....SPOOKY.
I did get a bit of time to shop and found some fun items also...fell in love with the cute little cookbook above, put out by Carnation in 1955.

Mini-dominos....so cute for jewelry-making.

A gorgeous leather prayer book.

Children's classic with beautiful illustrations.

The ultimate display book for the holidays!
All of these items are either in my shop now or will be before the day is over....I do hope you all have a wonderful and safe Halloween!

Are you ever embarrassed.......

when purchasing certain items in a thrift store? I can honestly say that it doesn't happen to me very often.....but it did today.
I found this really heavy box that was someone's craft project.
Not exactly to my taste....but they sure did use a very heavy glue on this baby! I had to actually get out a crowbar to coax off the top "padded" stuff! I wish I had gotten a photo of it.
You can see a bit of it in this first photo.

Boxes like this have a ton of potential for me! I took off everything on the outside of it.
I can't wait to sand it down and then cover it with some vintage wallpaper......stay tuned for my makeover. I've just finished a very large custom order for a customer so now I can create like crazy!
I may (or may not) put it in my Etsy shop. This one might just be a keeper!

Finding things in bunches......

Isn't it funny how that happens? You go out shopping and without even having anything in mind to look for you tend to find all "like" items? That happened to me today and I'm so glad it did! Look at this sweet couple above! I can just see them adorning someone's wedding cake.
Or these sweet friends....I didn't have the heart to break this set apart. I love the trendsetter in the center, the only one who dares to not sport pigtails.....there's always one of those, right?

How about this cute couple? She's holding her kitty and he has a book....love their expressions.
All these can be found newly listed in my Etsy.
Happy week to you all!
And many, many thanks to those of you who helped me in my last post to finally give "anonymous" the boot!
I'm happy to report that it worked...

Spam anyone?

*******************************************
Now this I'm getting tired of!!!! Anyone else notice that their quota of spam has risen or am I the only one? It's getting beyond annoying.....every time I update my blog I get about 8 spam messages from that dastardly "anonymous".

What's going on with blogger? Anyone else notice this or am I the only lucky one?

The heaven's opened up today........

And boy did we need it!! It hasn't rained here in a very long time..I'm loving it and so are my plants! We were lucky this weekend because we had the Home Show going on at our fairgrounds which means the flea was not only on Sunday but also on Saturday.....here's a peek at a few of the wonders I found there.

This little doggie is actually a measuring tape/pin cushion....had to have him!

Fanciest pipe cleaners ever! "Dapper Dans"

Stunning old crucifix will be added to my shop soon....

Tiny candles.....

Can't resist an antique ring box, especially if it's red velvet and shabby!

Lovely old birthday greeting card box made by one industrious and talented lady long ago......

All, or most, of these are newly listed in my shop. I've been a busy bee and loving it.
Check back because there is more goodness to come.
I do hope you all have a fabulous week and carve some time out for yourself.....I had a special delivery tonight. Sibella Court's new book "The Life of a Bowerbird" so I'll be settling in with a glass of red and reading that tonight. Can't wait!

Is it me or does it seem that........

many bloggers are posting less frequently? I've noticed this trend for quite some time now and wondered if it's just the particular blogs I read or if anyone else has noticed this trend?

I know for me, personally, I just have a difficult time finding the time (and sometimes inspiration) to blog.
How about you? Do you find that your favorites are slowing down or is it business as usual?

We had a wonderful friend from Seattle as a houseguest this weekend and it was so much fun! Last night we stayed up talking until 2:45 a.m. and it's catching up to me right now...!

But it was worth it. Today we drove up to Corvallis to eat lunch at Woodstock's Pizza and then hit some of the antique stores up there.
Which is where I found the ruffled beauty above. Doesn't it look just like a rumpled up vintage ball gown? I was so hoping there was a pair of these, but alas.....only one. It's newly listed in my store if you're in need of some fabulous shabbiness somewhere in your home.
Have a wonderful week!!

How to capture this beauty in a photo?

This is an item I told you about in my last post that I found at the flea....for such an unbelievable price that I can't even share it here without feeling guilty! This mirror is HUGE....25 1/2 inches around huge!

It's beveled and has the most beautiful etching design that is so very hard to capture with a camera. And the best part?
There were two of them that match! Both in perfect condition.
They have a thick piece of board on the back of them which my dh   is going to remove so that when we remodel our dd's bathroom these beauties can hang over her double sinks.....it will give her bathroom that perfect vintage feel that I love! I had every intention of selling these in my shop but to my surprise my dh really likes them as much as I do (well, maybe not quite as much as I do...) so we're keeping them! I wondered if they would fill the wall over her sinks but not to worry.....it's a perfect fit. Her wall is quite long but these mirrors....well, it's as if they were made for her room! Sconces on each side of them (vintage of course) and that wall will be done. And perfect!

While thrifting yesterday I found this beauty which is listed in my shop already.....am I crazy for selling it? I find lots of globes but never of this quality with a metal stand. This one is from the 1950's and so wonderful, I love the colors.

Also this gorgeous "little" dictionary....tiny in size but well over 1000 pages! Listed as well in my shop.
I do hope you all have a wonderful Autumn weekend!
As always, thanks for reading.....:).

What'cha up to this week?

This is a project on my worktable right now for a special customer.....banners in progress for the holidays. I love the fact that these will be flying over the pond soon!

The flea was really good to me yesterday.

Believe it or not I've actually sold this very same book before....so adorable!

This is a portion of the top of a vintage Mele style jewelry box....have never seen one this pretty before!

The sweetest vintage fold-up play house made of heavy cardboard.

And this lovely, wish I knew her name.....all of these items and more listed in my Etsy shop.....and much more to come including the two items that I bought to sell but can't...stay tuned for later in the week. You won't want to miss these beauties!
