So we just got home from our beach vacation on Sunday, and had a great time! The weather was cloudy every day, but no matter......as my husband is fond of saying, "It's a trip to the beach!"
Well said.......
I was really loving Astoria (as usual), I just have such a crush on this little old town! And as we were driving around, look what we saw...isn't this house amazing? I so wanted to get inside it, but all we could think about is what a great halloween house this must be, or could be.
If $$$ were no object I'd buy it and fix it up.....it's sitting up high on a hill (most houses in Astoria are) and has a fantastic view of the harbor.
I can't even fathom how much work needs to be done on this old house, but it's kinda creepy because it looks like someone is inhabiting it right now.....so spooky, I'm sure you'll be seeing this in something I make......... closer to halloween!
Be sure to click on the photo to make it larger....notice the vegetation growing out of the chimney? That amazed my 9 yo dd!

Oh it is wonderful.
I have my eye set on one similar to this in Illinois, there is a little town with a row of houses like this and some have been rehabbed or kept up the then there is one that sits further off the road that I would just love to get inside and see too.
I can' t wait to see what you make for Halloween, you should enter my art challenge going on with my blog.
Take care

I love Astoria and Gearheart. I plan to go in the Fall. The house is fantastic. It must have been elegant in its day. How sad this has happened to it.
Wow! What an awesome place :) Tamara x
I was in Astoria about a month ago and noticed that very same house...and also thought was a fun project to bring it back to its glory! Astoria is an awesome town!
I love Astoria and all the old houses up on the hills. I was just talking a few weeks ago when we there that I'd love to find a home there for a vacation house...if money were no object of course!

What a great house! The first thing I noticed were the delicate swags in the upstairs windows. I did a similar post on a house that is right next door to us. Someone did purchase it and they started renovating it right away. It's going to take awhile, and I can't wait to see the color they choose for painting it!
here's the post and pics of the old home : http://shab-n-chic.blogspot.com/2010/02/old-grey-house.html
love your blog and will add you to my favorites!
