It was a perfect day for............

playing around with hand dyeing some vintage linens...
look at all those french knots.....love them.

It's such a fun process because you never really know what's going to come out....but one thing is for sure.

It's always beautiful....the varying shades that come out with the dyes.....depending upon what colors you mix. I was totally experimental and not worrying about how anything came out.

It was a perfect day to use my clothespins and hang them on my lilac branches to let them air dry naturally.
I have one last finishing touch for these before I list them in my Etsy shop.....my signature if you will.
It's so fun to discover a new passion that is also something relaxing to do!
I highly recommend it......in a few days I'll give you the lowdown on my birthday yesterday.

What I've been up to lately........

Well, creating of course! I've been digging into my stash of items to create with and actually am using them.....yay for me. It's about time! I love creating for Halloween and rather than just sell this scary doll head I decided to make a cabinet of curiosities for creepy dolls.
Admittedly not everyone's cup of tea but all it takes is one person to love it, right?
I had a lot of fun putting that one together, I even made his little hat.

And I came across a tutorial recently on how to create sculptures out of books......so much fun! It's actually very relaxing just sitting there folding the pages over and over. The fun part is deciding what to put on the inside covers. I chose antique ledger pages for this particular sculpture, but in the future I can see using some of my vintage wallpapers.
This was just listed in my Etsy shop and there will be more of these to come.....in addition to making some for myself of course!

A great thing to do in this warm summer sun! Wash and air dry a new quilt covered with roses......!

And speaking of roses, mine are in their prime right now. So pretty and loving all the heat we're having.

We had a great day in Portland yesterday. Went to mass at the Grotto, what a beautiful setting that is! If you live in the Portland area and haven't been I highly recommend it. Then we had lunch with family at Gustav's and shopped at Rejuvenation and Hippo Hardware. Hippo didn't let us down and we found some vintage rails for our dd's vintage bed......can't wait to get that put together for her.
My etsy shop has been on fire this month (thankfully) so I've been very busy doing a lot of shipping and have some other business plans that I'm contemplating that I can't share at this point in time.
All I can say is........LIFE IS GOOD....hope your's is as well.

In other news that isn't shop related....my dd has been at a Science camp for the past two weeks. Tomorrow is her last day. They've been doing crime scene investigation this week.
It's almost like she's been at school...so quiet around here! But she's having a blast so that's what matters. Plus it gives me some time to get my work done without all the guilt, ya know? I know those of you with young ones probably do.

It really is such a great display item but I've decided to put it in my shop....it was published in 1921. It's 5 1/2" thick!!!!!!
Absolutely huge and beautifully illustrated.
I hope it doesn't sell for a long, long time....:).
